An Archaeologist with the University of Ghana, Legon, Dr. Wazi Apoh has revealed there are “stolen” Akpini Royal and cultural heritage in German and other European Museums.
Dr. Wazi Apoh said he discovered this through research and still gathering evidence on the location and origin of some of these looted cultural heritage to support the traditional authority to retrieve them.
According to him, the late chief of Kpando, the Dagadu started the process of identifying and recovering these artifacts but his death has slowed the pace
He is therefore calling for the enstoolment of a new Dagadu of Kpando to ensure the process is completed to ensure the return of these cultural artifacts which form the heritage back to the people.
These artifacts, Dr. Apoh thinks can lay the foundation for the creation of a community or palace museum to enhance the revival of Cultural Education and Heritage Tourism in Akpiniland.

Dr. Wazu Apoh who holds a doctorate degree in Anthropological Archaeology from the Binghamton University was speaking at the launch of his book Revelations of Domination And Resilience, Unearthing the Buried Past of the Akpini, Akan, Germans and British at Kpando Ghana.
The book highlights the cultural history of Kpando, the multiple hegemonic forces that impacted on the landscape of the people, their unique language, cultural mannerism, the love for Christianity, and the borborbor.

A former Chief of Staff Hon Prosper Bani who was the chairman of the event, said the book offers insights into the history of the great people of Akpini and for that matter Kpando.
After buying the first copy of the book for GH¢2000, the immediate past Interior Minister called on the general public especially persons from the Volta region to purchase the book and ensure that all libraries, schools, across the region have a copy.
The 9 chapters, 338 page book was review by Prof Kodzo Gavua of the University of Ghana.
The event which took place at the University of Ghana Legon, was attended by lectures, academia, and Akpini Students Union (ASU) at University of Ghana Legon and University Professional Studies Accra UPSA.
