A COVID-19 Contact tracer has revealed that his colleagues who have contracted the deadly virus in the course of their work have been left to their fate.
According to him these contact tracers are not only buying their own medications but left to manage the disease themselves.
Government has credited its contact tracing venture for its ability to successfully identify persons who have been in contact with those who have tested positive for the disease.
Speaking in an interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive one of the persons undertaking this contact tracing says they are not being treated fairly.
The contact tracer indicated that they were promised an insurance cover before they started their work.
The insurance cover according to the contact tracer was supposed to cover their care and management if they contracted the disease but this has not been the case for his colleagues who have contracted the virus.
The contact tracer said they are also owed arrears running into 40 days since they started their work on April 1, 2020.
The contact tracer said they have only been paid for 20 days of work forcing several colleagues to resign.
The contact tracer said this has not changed despite their involvement in the community testing program currently being pursued by the government.
