Former president, John Dramani Mahama says the majority of Ghanaian voters including members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are yearning for him to be re-elected as president of Ghana.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer asserted that the country was going through challenging times and he had the experience and the leadership qualities needed to lead the nation to prosperity.
He highlighted his achievements during his tenure as president, including the expansion of infrastructure, the provision of social services and economic growth.
Addressing teaming supporters of the NDC during a building Ghana campaign tour of the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama said several members of governing NPP people wants him, John Mahama to win the 2024 presidential elections because the Akuffo Addo government was clueless about how to solve Ghana’s problems.
‘’Ghanaians have suffered enough under this reckless, incompetent, this clueless, this useless government. The time has come never before have the hopes of Ghanaians hinged on one political party to come and rescue them the challenges and hardships that they are going through. We are doing this not for ourselves as NDC, we are doing this for Ghana. We are doing this for the people of Ghana, those who are hoping the NDC will win the next elections are not only members, supporters and foot soldiers of NDC even people who are not members of our party are hoping that we win and turn things around. And let me add even people who are in NPP are hoping that NDC will win so that their party will go back into opposition. Because several of them have come to tell me that president Mahama you must try and win so that we can go back with our party into opposition and go and re-organize it’’.
On Thursday, Mr. Mahama resumed his building Ghana tour aimed at interfacing with party executives, supporters, and Ghanaians in general on critical issues affecting the country.
During the tour, the former Ghanaian leader addressed various issues including economic hardship, the free senior high policy and the need for government to fix the current economic challenges facing the country.
The tour also provided an opportunity for Mr. Mahama to interact and listen to the concerns and aspirations of the people of the Volta Region.
At Sogakope, where the NDC flagbearer was mobbed by street hawkers, Mr. Mahama said
“We’re going to write our manifesto, and so we want to know what your problems are, so that we can put it in our manifesto, so that when NDC wins in 2025 we will know what to do for you”.Story: Coffie Emmanuel/Radiogoldlive.com
