The Chief Executive Officer of LMI Group, Kofi Aduhene, has committed to completing 700 housing units at the Saglemi Housing Project by March 2027, with all 1,500 units expected to be ready for occupation by the end of 2027.
Mr. Aduhene made the commitment during President John Dramani Mahama’s inspection of the Saglemi Housing Project, where he outlined progress on the development and plans to transform the area into a modern residential community.
“By March 2027, we will have 700 housing units ready, and I want to say to everyone: take me at my word. I am making this commitment publicly, and I expect you to hold me accountable for it,” he said.
He also announced that prospective homeowners could begin the process of purchasing the houses.
“If anyone wishes to purchase a house now, we are ready to begin the sales process,” Mr. Aduhene stated.
He said the company was confident of completing the entire project by the close of 2027.
“By the end of 2027, all 1,500 housing units will be completed and ready for occupation,” he assured.
Infrastructure works progressing
According to the LMI Group CEO, construction activities are progressing steadily, with the necessary materials secured for the project.
He said site clearing was ongoing, while the installation of underground electrical cabling was also progressing to provide modern and reliable infrastructure throughout the community.
Mr. Aduhene identified water supply as one of the major challenges that had historically affected the development but said significant progress had now been made to address the problem.
“One of the biggest challenges this development has faced has been the supply of water. I am pleased to announce that the solution is now in place,” he said.
He explained that a new water treatment plant at Dawa was ready, the pipeline had already been laid, and an overhead reservoir was nearing completion.
“Together, these facilities will provide sufficient water to serve the entire Saglemi community,” he added.
Fibre connectivity for every home
Mr. Aduhene further announced plans to provide high-speed internet connectivity to residents of the estate.
He disclosed that fibre-optic cable was being laid from Dawa to Saglemi, linking the development to existing digital infrastructure in the area.
“Every single house will be connected by fibre. Every home will have access to reliable, high-speed internet,” he said.
He added that residents would also have access to an internal communication system through which they could communicate directly with estate security and management services.
Railway connection to Tema
The LMI Group CEO also disclosed discussions with President Mahama on a proposed railway connection linking Saglemi to the Dawa Industrial Zone and the wider Tema industrial enclave.
“This is not merely an idea that has been talked about for years. It is part of our vision to connect Saglemi with the Dawa Industrial Zone and the wider Tema enclave,” Mr. Aduhene said.
He said the railway would significantly improve commuting for residents who work in Tema.
“Imagine living here and working in Tema. Instead of enduring long road journeys, you will simply walk to the station, board the train, and travel comfortably to work,” he said.
According to him, the proposed railway could also serve communities including Ashaiman and Afienya, as well as surrounding areas.
Decent housing for working Ghanaians
Mr. Aduhene said the development was intended to contribute to efforts to provide decent and affordable housing while improving access to employment centres.
“Our goal is to ensure that hardworking Ghanaians do not have to live in shanty settlements or overcrowded slum communities, but can own decent homes here and commute efficiently by rail,” he said.
He maintained that the vision was achievable and reiterated his commitment to delivering the promises made.
“I am not making promises lightly. I want you to take me at my word and hold me accountable for delivering every one of these commitments,” Mr. Aduhene said.
