President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday led the Men’s Ministry of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, where they fellowshipped with inmates and donated essential supplies to support their welfare.
The delegation presented food items including rice, maize, gari, sugar, cooking oil, tomato paste, spaghetti, and sardines in significant quantities.
The visit, marked by praise, worship, and spiritual ministration, saw Head Pastor Reverend Benjamin Tettey urge inmates to remain hopeful and embrace repentance and personal transformation through faith.
“Do not lose hope. Your current situation is not the end of your story,” he encouraged.
President Mahama, in his address, stressed the need for society to show compassion toward prisoners and support their rehabilitation.
“We must care for all members of society, including those in custody, and ensure they have the opportunity to reform and rebuild their lives,” he said.
He pledged to improve sporting facilities within the prison and announced that the Lordina Foundation would assist in addressing inmates’ health needs.
The President and his delegation also inspected ongoing projects at the facility, including a 5,000-layer poultry farm and an 800-capacity remand prison aimed at easing congestion and improving living conditions.
