A US based Organization and Management expert Dr. Justice Salifu says President Akufo-Addo should take responsibility for the failure of the fight against galamsey.

According to him the President has intentionally looked “the other way” whiles illegal, irresponsible miners including his party bigwigs destroy the environment.

President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday 5 October 2022 met the National House Chiefs and MMDCEs in Kumasi to discuss the havoc created by galamsey.

This meeting comes in the wake of discussions surrounding the mining of the Tano Namiri forest reserve by a company that belonged to the Ashanti regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party.

Commenting on the development, US based Organization and Management Expert Dr. Justice Salifu insisted that the fight against irresponsible and illegal mining has got nothing to do with the chiefs.

He told host of the Gold Morning Conversation Sena Nombo the prevalence of the menace is due to the failure of government.

Dr. Salifu said government was duty bound to regulate the sector.

He said the deadly business of galamsey has thrived because regulation has failed.

Dr. Salifu said the failure of regulation is the failure of President Akufo-Addo and wondered how he could look on as his appointees fail at basic enforcement.

He called on President Akufo-Addo to stop seeking to share blame and responsibility and get serious with fixing the problem.
