President John Dramani Mahama has established a Constitutional Review Committee to identify gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional reviews.
The committee, chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, comprises experts in various fields, including law, politics, and governance.
The committee’s tasks include:
- Reviewing Previous Constitutional Reviews: Examining the work done by the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.
- Engaging Stakeholders: Soliciting views from key stakeholders on proposals for amending the 1992 Constitution.
- Making Recommendations: Providing actionable recommendations to enhance democratic governance in Ghana.
The committee is expected to present its recommendations within five months for consideration by the government.
According to Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s acting spokesperson, the committee’s composition reflects President Mahama’s commitment to engaging experts with proven expertise and dedication to good governance.
