Bechem United protected their home invincibility with a 1-1 draw against defending champions, Hearts of Oak in week 28 on Saturday at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The Hunters got their noses in front when Emmanuel Owusu poked in Bechem United’s opener on the 30th minute after Hearts goalkeeper, Richard Attah had spilled a ferocious strike from outside the goal area.
The Phobians rallied to draw level on the stroke of half time with youngster, Seidu Suraj latching on to Frederick Ansah Botchway’s long pass to lob the ball past Bechem United goalkeeper, Abdulai Iddrisu.
Kassim Mingle is head coach of Bechem United and was not happy with the performance of his charges.
“It was a very competitive game and my players did not play like the way we have been playing always so I’m disappointed in their play today.
“They were a little bit sluggish today and we couldn’t string our passes together and the way when we are finishing we attack the 18, they were not doing it today.
“I don’t know why it happened like that,” Kassim Mingle told StarTimes.
“We will consolidate our position, the second position, nobody can remove us from that position.” Kassim Mingle added.
Bechem United remain second on the log with 47 points – eight less than leaders, Asante Kotoko who will clear their week 28 fixture against two time champions, Aduana FC on Sunday.
