Deputy Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament Isaac Adongo has chided President Akufo-Addo for lacking the boldness to admit that his Economic Management has failed him in the wake of current economic difficulties.
The Bolgatanga Central MP was responding to President Akufo-Addo’s claim that he was upset and anxious of the depreciation of the cedi.
In a statement on the fast declining and weakening cedi, President Akufo-Addo promised government was making efforts to deal with the situation.
Isaac Adongo in a write-up on Social Media however says President Akufo-Addo was acting like a weakling.
“President Akufo-Addo, don’t address only the “recent depreciations”. Please address the “past depreciations” too. By the way, who is President Akufo-Addo complaining to? He should stop being a weakling,” he stated.
The Bolga MP said the President was avoiding criticizing the leader of his Economic Management Team Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia because of internal elections.
Isaac Adongo advised the President to look for competent people to manage the economy.
“Your Economic Management Team-lead, Dr. Bawumia has been a monumental disaster but you are not bold enough to mention this because of your upcoming internal presidential contest.”
“Unfortunately, Mr. President, the cedi has no eyes to read your book of lamentations. There can be no substitute to sound economic management by competent hands to get the cedi to hold its own against the major foreign currencies,” Isaac Adongo stated.
