The National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti region has dismissed attempts to link one of the suspects in the kidnapping of two Canadians in Kumasi.
Seidu Mba is now being linked to the leading opposition party after initial links to pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) Delta Force.
The Ashanti Region NDC however says they do not have any records of Seidu Mba being a member of the party.
Ashanti regional NDC Chairman Augustus Nana Akwasi Andrews insists that his checks have shown that Seidu is not a member of the NDC.
He said his first and only encounter with Seidu was when the kidnapping suspect attempted to prevent former President John Mahama from using the VVIP lounge of Kumasi Airport.
Former Regional Chairman of the NDC Yaw Obimpeh told Ransford Boakye on the Gold Power Drive Seidu Mba is a known activist of the NPP.
He revealed that party youth has since 2000 ensured that he did not get close to party gatherings and events because of his well known affiliation with the NPP in the Ashanti region.
Yaw Obimpeh narrated an instance during which he had to intervene to prevent NDC youth from attacking him (Seidu) for attempting to join an NDC gathering.
The youth who attacked Seidu Mba, Mr. Obimpeh said justified their actions by saying the kidnapping suspect is an NPP activitist who was attempting to infiltrate their ranks.
The former NDC Ashanti Regional Chairman also disclosed that Seidu Mba has on several occasions defended the NPP on media platforms in the area.
