The National democratic congress (NDC) has cautioned Parliamentary Aspirants against soliciting support from delegates using the names of some party leaders.
This comes today when the party opened nominations for persons interested in being parliamentary candidates to pick up forms to contest in primaries scheduled for August 24 2019.
The NDC says it has picked up intelligence that some aspirants are campaigning using the names of some prominent people in the party and even gone further to affirm the alleged support with pictures taken with these leaders.
In a statement issued today, General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Aseidu Nketiah warned aspirant’s to desist from such practices.
“By this time, the leadership of the Party is advising all parliamentary aspirants to cease and desist from this practice.”
“We wish to re-emphasise that the vetting process that follows the filling of names of respective candidates will take into consideration only the requirement of the guidelines as derived from the NDC constitution and the constitution of the republic of Ghana, and that no other matter will be taken into account in deciding who qualifies as our candidates,” he stated.
Johnson Aseidu Nketiah has therefore advised delegates to disregard aspirants engaged in this form influence peddling in a bid to win their votes and elect persons in whom they have confidence and can attract the votes needed to secure the respective seat for the NDC in the 2020 general election.Story by: Pokuaa Berfi-Boadu/Radiogoldlive.com
