
The Joana Gyan Foundation, The Professional Football Association of Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association, the Kwesi Nyantakyi Foundation for Legal Services on Thursday May 21, embarked on a major humanitarian outreach to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison aimed at inspiring hope and supporting inmates through donations and encouragement.
The initiative brought together Black Stars legends,, musicians, corporate partners and dignitaries in what organisers described as “a mission of love, compassion and humanity.”
The delegation, estimated at between 150 and 170 people, departed Accra at exactly 8:00 a.m. for the prison facility in Nsawam.

Among the personalities participating in the outreach were CAF Second Vice President and GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, football legends Abedi Ayew, Kwame Ayew, Anthony Baffoe, as well as Agyemang Badu.
Musicians including Dr Cryme and Patapaa also joined the outreach to interact with inmates and support the initiative.
Speaking after the very important exercise, Honourable Joana Gyan Cudjoe who doubles as the Member of Parliament of Amenfi Central of the Western Region said.

“Personally I feel honoured and blessed and very great because I never expected this because when I got here the feeling and atmosphere was totally different,” Joana Gyan Cudjoe told Radio Gold.
“Many at times we hear about Nsawam but we don’t know exactly what goes on here so coming here today has been a blessing.
“I feel sad also at the same time because if you look at the people on the pitch you will never believe that they are inmates.
“Wearing the jersey and everything when they told me they were inmates I was tearing up, it’s really sad and I’m happy that I have the opportunity to be here to HSV an encounter with them.
“And I believe that moving forward I will come here more often to interact with them.”She added.
Former president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi added his voice to the importance ocassion.
“I thought that those who are outside the prison should show concern to those inside,” Nyantakyi told Radio Gold.
“Anybody can be in prison, anybody can make a mistake and go to prison so we should not forsake those who have found their way there because of one or two reasons.
“We should also show concern, compassion, love and give them hope that we are in or there for them.”
Kwesi Nyantakyi donated an amount of GHc 20,000 cedis in support of the inmates, a gesture that was greatly appreciated by the personalities presente.
As part of the outreach, the delegation donated bags of rice, fish, drinking water and an undisclosed cash amount to support inmates and prison officers.
Special guests at the event included Amenfi Central MP Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Ghana legend Abedi Pele, Former CAF General Secretary Anthony Baffoe, current Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku.
